Hungry rabbits need to forage if they want to eat! You can Forage for Food from the Explore Map as a way of feeding your rabbits and, sometimes, finding items! If you find an item, it will automatically go to your den. As you level up your account, more areas will become available, increasing the variety of items you can find (each area has its own set of items that can be foraged).
Aside from adding items to your den, your rabbits and your account will gain experience when you find an item. There are no consequences for not foraging, but you won't gain anything, so it's recommended that you forage for food daily. If you don't have much time to do this with each rabbit, set up a tunnel to do the tunnel-wide forage (a much quicker option). You can forage with as many rabbits as you want in a single tunnel, or spread them out to a few different tunnels.
Your rabbits will need some motivation to go out and risk being spotted by predators! For that reason, they will have to be hungry to forage. As you forage, your rabbit will graze and eventually become full. You may find items along the way, though. At midnight, rabbits who were previously full will become hungry and ready to forage again.
Note: new rabbits you acquire from explore or the Forsaken Burrows will not be hungry enough to forage that day, so you'll need to wait until the following day to forage with them.
Want to improve your yield with individual foraging? Foraging skills can be learned from your rabbit's profile. As your rabbit levels up, he/she will gain access to more and better skills. The best skills are ones that use up the least amount of energy (your rabbit will become less full as they use them) and have a higher chance of finding items. These do not effect tunnel-wide foraging, but they can greatly improve the yield of single-rabbit foraging.
Sometimes you can find rare items when foraging. The chances of finding rare items will increase with higher level skills. You can also greatly increase your odds of getting rare items by having a Human Foot in your den while foraging. The Human Foot will indicate when an item was found because of it.
There are two main types of foraging skills: digging, and everything else. When a rabbit uses digging skills, they will only find bones (nothing else). Other skills will allow them to find items that are specific to the area. Digging can come in handy if you are trying to resurrect a rabbit, or want to gain more health stats with the rabbit trainer.
Have lots of rabbits? Want to get the job done faster? You can mass forage with many rabbits at a time using the tunnel-wide forage. By putting your rabbits into tunnels, you can forage with all of them at once at the click of a button. This will not be as bountiful as individual foraging, so it may still be worth your time to forage by a single rabbit, but tunnelwide foraging is a great way to reap the benefits on limited time. Item rarities are exactly the same (though the chance of an item appearing is less overall). Foraging skills are not used for tunnel-wide foraging.
